Chioce Based Credit System
Choice Based Credit System is followed, as an ideal method to narrow down the gap between education and employment. A student can choose from a variety of courses as electives, get due credits and qualify for graduation. While core courses are part of the main discipline, the electives come from many other disciplines.
As per the draft regulations of the CBCS for UG and PG courses, the CBCS is a flexible system of learning. ‘Credit’ defines the quantum of contents/syllabi prescribed for a course and determines the number of hours of instruction required. The CBCS permits students to learn at their own pace, choose electives from a wide range of elective courses offered by the departments of the affiliated colleges, undergo additional courses and acquire more than the required number of credits, adopt an interdisciplinary approach in learning, and make best use of the expertise of available faculty. In case of the UG courses, a student would have to pass in all the papers and practicals by earning 140 credits in all five parts to be declared passed in the whole examination. In case of the PG courses, a candidate shall be eligible for the award of degree only if he/she has passed the examination of all the four semesters, earning 90 credits. For M.Phil the total Credit is 30.
Course Structure: Courses, subjects, teaching hours and credits are given under CBCS. The medium of instruction is English
